The father of Rabbi Mosheh Hutzin served in the rabbinate in Baghdad for thirty years (5503-5533 A.M.)[see about him in Yehudey Bavel, pp. 118-120.] The son passed away in the year 5570 A.M. (1810 C.E.). He [Rabbi Mosheh Hutzin] authored many piyyutim (“prayer-poems”), but most of them have gone missing, and just twenty-four of them have been preserved, and nine of them have been [previously] printed. His songs have been [well-]received, and they are sung communally. They are all songs with rhyme,

I have cried out to You; I have placed my trust in Your name; I have recounted Your greatness—praiseworthy Adonai.
I have watched Your gate; listen to my praise and also to my prayer—hear, Adonai!
Remember my covenant; be quick, to my assistance, before I call for You—“Save, Adonai!”
I have awaited Your salvation; establish my glory-house for bringing near the new sacrifice I lay down for Adonai.
A retreat in my distress—subdue all that subdues me—my stone and my fortress and my refuge, Adonai.
Answer my pleading; turn to my praise; enjoin my salvation—the rock of my salvation, Adonai.
Bring near the the end of my redemption; have mercy on my soul; I have heard Your name; I have had awe for Adonai.
Illuminate my darkness; make my redemption palpable; return my inheritance; lay me down, Adonai.
